Bridging an engineering background with human-centered design, I transpose complex user needs into intuitive solutions and experiences that everyone can enjoy. I leverage my background of engineering with human-centered design & psychology to turn complex user-needs into intuitive, scalable experiences. With over a decade of systems thinking and 7+ years as a Product/UX Designer, I’ve helped teams navigate VUCA environments and built engaging solutions supporting productivity & 'flow-state' for various B2B & B2C markets.

My Story

For over a decade I worked in low-voltage as an A/V integrations specialist. I would translate user needs into “whole-product” systems that would align with budget and goal. I’d validate the solution/system through design. I’d update CAD to support installation. I’d communicate with integration teams to make sure they comprehend the “handoff” and account for all possible “constraints”. In a sense, I was performing UX for commercial / residential low-voltage systems. When the market crashed (around ‘08?) I landed a gig as Tech Manager for CEC Ent, fixing video games, robots, and teaching teens how to repair coin / ticket machines. When I found myself raising my son by myself, I knew that this career-path was no longer sustainable. Afterwards, a friend got me into coding. I started contract work with him as a backend developer and managed to get lucky to be taken on as a UX engineer (which turned into UXD, quickly). And I've been loving this career path ever since, creating accessible web experiences that help people meet their goals while helping teams work more efficiently and effectively.

Beyond design, I'm a lifelong learner committed to pushing the boundaries of digital experiences - always curious, always evolving. When I'm not practicing or studying on design, you'll find me bouldering, surfing, or exploring creativity through film photography and playing music with friends. I call St. Augustine home, where my wife and son keep me grounded. We're actively involved with our local special needs parent community, making connections and supporting each other.
